The melon supply from Brazil will soon be replaced by our own Costa Rican production. We expect to be able to load the first watermelons from Costa Rica in the second half of this month. In the subsequent weeks, the other varieties Yellow Honey Dew, Galia and Cantaloupe will also follow. This means that now is the perfect opportunity to be able to honour specific needs and preferences.

Our colleagues of SFG Dulce in Costa Rica, coordinate the local production of melons and pineapples and the export of these to Europe. Melons are grown exclusively for Staay Food Group on six farms, on a total area of 550 hectares. This crop is regularly inspected personally by our own agronomist. This way we have optimal control over the cultivation and can keep our customers well-informed about the crop. Efforts in the area of sustainability and CSR have resulted in the entire production being Rainforest Alliance-certified. This certificate stands for safe labour conditions, sustainable livelihoods and care for the environment and nature. We package the melons on site under our own brands DULCE and NERO.

The present situation in Costa Rica is, after the rainfall, now favourable for the harvest. The melons have grown beautifully and can soon be harvested.
