On Thursday 29 June 2017, the Dutch Royal Couple visited the north eastern part of Flevoland. The King and Queen went to Urk, Nagele and Dronten. This area has always had a strong agricultural character and values innovative sustainable agriculture and food production.
In Dronten, the King and Queen also visited the recently opened Staay Food Group production location. Their Royal highnesses were given a guided tour of the facility and had the opportunity to talk to our employees. As well as the tour, a meeting was arranged with members of the consortium involved in the vertical farm developments. Philips, Certhon, Rijk Zwaan and the various knowledge institutes were also present to further explain this innovative method to the Royal couple.
We are very honoured that Staay Food Group was able to welcome the Royal couple. We were able to show how we envisage the future of food production with regard to sustainability, convenience, and growing in climate rooms.
We can look back on a very successful day!
