This week, we\u2019re receiving the first melons from Spain a little earlier than usual. The first peaches and nectarines will follow next week. Compared to last year, the first harvests started about 2 weeks earlier. The reason for the fruit being ahead of schedule is the warm spring in Spain. The quality is excellent, but volumes are obviously not very high yet.<\/p>\n
As usual, watermelons are the first melons of the season, but this year we also already have Galia melon available. From about week 19, we expect more volume and further expansion of the range. From Spain, we are again offering Galia, Cantaloupe, Piel de Sapo and Watermelons this summer season.<\/p>\n
Stone fruit with good volumes We expect the first volumes for peach and nectarine in week 18. The first apricots will also be available by then. In week 21\/22, we will get going with wild peach, followed by Spanish cherries from the Jerte valley in Extremadura. Despite the high temperatures, sufficient precipitation fell to restore the water reservoirs to acceptable levels. Enough snow has also fallen in the mountains, which also provides a supply of water.
