Stone Fruit

Product: Cherries, nectarines, Peaches, Apricots, Plums
Country of origin: Spain

Just like every year, the kick-off of the Spanish stone fruit season will take place in April (week 16-17). The first harvest will be picked in the region of Seville and in Morocco. There, we grow various types of stone fruit, such as nectarines, peaches, paraguayos and plumcots. Not much later, the Murcia region starts; there, the plums and apricots complete the full range.

The stone fruit production in the surroundings of Lerida and Badajoz allows Staay Food Group to offer a large volume from the beginning of June until the end of September. In addition, we try to guarantee and improve quality and taste by innovation in varieties and cultivation methods.

Contrary to last year's warm winter, the trees have had more than enough cold hours this last winter. Stone fruit trees need that to rest. Depending on the area, they have had 500 to 800 hours of cold weather. By cold weather, we mean temperatures below 6 degrees Celsius. This results in a good production and high quality of the stone fruit.

A good logistical network is also very important for a fresh product. We can deliver within 24 to 36 hours at Staay Food Group’s central distribution points, or directly to the customer in the Netherlands. We can also package the stone fruit according to the customer's wish and in the desired sizes.
