Italian grape season off to a strong start
The Italian grape season has started once again. In the Bari region of Puglia (Southern Italy), our growers have recently started production for the new season. Over the past few days, our colleagues Frans, Koos and Sander visited the growing facilities and reported that expectations for the season are very positive.
The first deliveries are already confirming these expectations. Varieties such as Millennium, Victoria, Ruby Rush, Starlight, Maula and Black Magic already provide a complete assortment of white, red and black grapes.
Thanks to favourable weather conditions, our growers expect a season with strong volumes and outstanding quality. In addition, the trend towards seedless grapes continues, with an increasing number of new seedless varieties becoming available.
The Italian season is expected to continue until the end of November. The grapes are available under the well-known brands Didonna, Principio and Supreme, as well as under our own NERO label. Alongside Sander Rutten (Venlo) and Koos Nap (Papendrecht), Frans Sinke Jr. will also join Staay Food Group’s Italian grape sourcing team this season.
