Start of grape season in Italy
Last week, two of our colleagues Sander and Boy travelled to sunny Puglia in southern Italy. They visited various grape growers to witness the start of the Italian grape season. The good news? From now on, customers can enjoy delicious Italian grapes for almost six months of the year – under our trusted house brand Nero and the exclusive Didonnabrand.
Exceptional season ahead
Together with the grape growers, our colleagues sampled the grapes in the vineyards. Sander told us:
“We havenβt seen such a high volume and quality of grapes as this in the last ten years.”
New supplier with innovative approach
Sander and Boy also visited a new supplier with more than 300 hectares of vineyards – a large proportion of which are organic. This supplier has entirely swopped the traditional grape varieties with seedless club varieties. Their advanced digital system records data such as yields, shelf life and product forecasts. And thanks to a QR code on the packaging, customers can share instant access to this data. Transparency and traceability are key – exactly what the future demands of us.
